Doing "Too Well"

In today's society you would think success would be welcomed for an Aboriginal mob, not looked at as being a bad thing........ Right?


It appears management of our corporation supposedly for the mob, thought that our water research group were doing Quote "too well".

So they are no longer going to support our group as specifically the water group, but are putting us in what they're calling a Quote "Traditional Owners knowledge circle" or Healing circle.



A nice little package where we are all together and they now have say over everything and can record our knowledge.

You see they know that when we get together we all talk about culture. As I spoke about in my 1st blog, they can steal our knowledge. Except now it can be done openly under the disguise of record keeping.



The person putting this in place is not Aboriginal and this just backs up what I'm fighting for.

So what am I fighting for ?

I'm fighting for the truth about what's going on in Aboriginal culture.

Not what we are doing wrong but what's being done to us by non Aboriginal people and some of our own mob who are uneducated in culture, unsetting us up to fail, coming into the mob's and politicising and destroying everything we have fought so hard to achieve. Just like they are trying to do to this water group.


The important thing to note here is, our water group was just us from my mob with one non Aboriginal person being the Water Policy Officer, who was culturally sensitive. Regarding the Water Policy Officer position, a person was told when they enquired about the job, Quote "it was not their headache".

Believe me there is no headache with our water group. We are/were independent of the corporation working for culture. We are/were a successful research group, Bringing life to our country.

(the Water Policy officer will be on another blog because that's a whole other story).


This water group has managed to get water to parts of our country that desperately needed water. This is Aboriginal Success.

Let's put this into perspective, the amount of water we are looking at is in total 70 GL, to use over time. Let's put that into perspective this water is worth around $13 million dollars on the current water market.


The deliberate act of removing the water group appears to be for sole management of this water, so perhaps it could be sold and not used fully for country as we are/were doing .


For them like any other business it's about the $$$$$$$$$ NOT the mob.

All I will say with certainty is the corporation is desperate to have everything run through the corporation it's about the power of the corporation. They don't want anything run by the mob for the mob. .


No one will know the truth about what has been done with the water, because there will be no specific water group and the information from management will be filtered and diluted when given to the Quote "Traditional Owners knowledge circle".

Plus there won't be the time required to do the research and engagement like the water group are/were doing, as these will be short meetings with so many topics and very little time allotted for each item to be discussed.

There you have it, Micro Management. This will be mentioned a lot in my blogs.





Micro Management. Micro Management. Micro Management. Micro Management.


This is what the corporation are doing to their very own people.

Wikipedia says this of micromanagement.

Quote "Rather than giving general instructions on smaller tasks and then devoting time to supervising larger concerns, the micromanager monitors and assesses every step of a business process and avoids delegation of decisions.[6] Micromanagers are usually irritated when a subordinate makes decisions without consulting them, even if the decisions are within the subordinate's level of authority.

Micromanagement also frequently involves requests for unnecessary and overly detailed reports ("reportomania"). A micromanager tends to require constant and detailed performance feedback and to focus excessively on procedural trivia (often in detail greater than they can actually process) rather than on overall performance, quality and results. This focus on "low-level" trivia often delays decisions, clouds overall goals and objectives, restricts the flow of information between employees, and guides the various aspects of a project in different and often opposed directions. Many micromanagers accept such inefficiencies as less important than their retention of control or of the appearance of control."

My mob's Corporation to a "T".


In a social setting this would be called "Bullying"


Sorry to say this, but it's the truth, management want to sabotage our efforts and not have us succeed. Why? I don't know for certain, but I will find out one day.

This is NOT conspiracy theory but the facts as I have been involved in.

The Water group is just ONE example of them trying to Bully, micromanage and sabotage us. Then tell everyone "we" the mob couldn't manage.


Trying to get the truth out there is very lonely and isolating, as we have no voice. There's nothing you can say or do to change a thing. For me personally I feel hopeless and helpless because as individuals having no voice and trying to fight for our individual and collective cultural rights is almost impossible when we are hobbled.


Our elders fought so hard and died for us the Aboriginal people to be the ones with the voice and for us to hold and management positions. Yes there are some in management, some are cultural but the ones who hold the power In the senior positions are the ones who don't even know their own culture and don't come to the mob gatherings and aren't trying to learn culture or are non Aboriginal.

Management of an Aboriginal corporation is not just about money and power, it's about being culturally sensitive, encouraging,supportive, understanding, being strong and being a warrior.

We have people who have the necessary cultural and educational skills required for management. One of our beautiful people has these skillset's and dealt with millions and millions of dollars a day in a senior management position. Of course she is a woman and there are no women in the top 3 senior positions. Sexist much?


So is success wrong for Aboriginal people ?

We all have our own idea of success, ours is not about money but about culture, protecting the environment and now it's about protecting us.

I honestly feel like I have travelled back in time to before the Referendum in 1967, where we were classed as flora and fauna.

Can you imagine what it's like to have not been classed as a human being, to be hunted like an animal.
